While our standard Major and Major XL resist being torn by bears, it is prone to small (less than 1/4 inch) punctures/weave separations. The AllMitey is virtually puncture-proof. Though this bear bag seems very nice, it is much to large for what I need, so I've tried contacting the seller 5 times to exchange it for something smaller, but there was never any reply whatsoever, then I tried to contact them for a refund because what kind of company ignores customers. Still no reply. I guess I'm stuck with this way too huge bear bag.
I needed a bear and critter proof food storage option for a hike coming up end of the summer in Colorado. After a lot of research decided on the Grizzly - I needed the extra space for a longer 8 day section. So far very pleased with the construction and workmanship. From what I’ve heard and read, I expect it will do just fine for what I need on this hike
I have been using the URSAK Almighty then the Almighty Grizzly for a number of years since they were first was introduced. While the original dual Velcro closure was a nice feature, the standard closure method works just fine. Simply follow the instructions for a sealing closure to function properly. I’ve never had any critter issues large or small. Proper usage protocol is the key. Excellent storage option when a rigid canister is not required or there is no known bear activity.
I use mine in Algonquin, closes just fine without velcro. Just double overhand knot, there is zero gap. Hang using figure 8 knot, easy.
The regular 10L almighty weight 9.6 oz on my scale, so sizing up to 20L adds just over 4 oz
I was just about to buy this when I couldn't see how it is securely closed. If it's just tied with the cord that comes with it, I can't see how it is effective at all. Please delete this if there is a secure closure. If there isn't a way to securely enclose things, can you explain why and how items are kept untouched by animals?
